System Settings

Overview:

This article walks you through how to access and use the ESGI System Settings. It explains how to navigate to the System Settings and outlines the key configuration options available in the General, Testing, and Test Session Results sections—such as sorting students, time zone selection, keyboard shortcuts, self‑assessment settings, and customizable result displays. 

Navigating to System Settings

1. Click on the Settings Cog icon at the bottom of the column located on the left of the home screen to access the Quick Setup.

2. Select the arrow to the left of the Quick Setup icon to see all of the options for System Settings.  

General

Interface Theme - Allows you to switch between our Default, High Contrast, and Dark themes for ESGI.

Sort Students - Use the dropdown arrows to sort students by first or last name. Click SAVE when finished.

Time Zone - Use the dropdown arrows to select the correct time zone. Click SAVE when finished. 

Classic View Switch - to return to the Classic version of ESGI, select Go back to old ESGI.

Single Sign On - Select the appropriate link below for complete details on linking your ESGI account to Clever or ClassLink for single sign-on.

Note: Please click on the blue Save Changes button when you are finished adjusting any of the Testing fields.

Testing 

Keyboard Shortcuts - Allows you to toggle keyboard shortcuts on or off.

  • Enabled – Allows you to use the left and right arrow keys or the letters “Y” and “N” on the keyboard to mark a question as correct or incorrect, instead of clicking the “Yes” and “No” buttons on the screen.

Test Button Labels - Lets you add custom test button labels.

  • Enabled – Allows you to change the “Yes” and “No” test button labels to something else (i.e., “Y” and “N”). This field has a 5-character limit. 

Student Testing Options - Allows you to enable or disable Self-Assess testing as well as lock the homepage. 

  • Self-assessment Administration - When enabled, allows you to select to administer a test one-on-one or as a student self-assessment. 

  • Lock Homepage – When enabled, requires that a PIN be entered to return to the homepage after a student completes self-assessment. 

Note: Please click on the blue Save Changes button when you are finished adjusting any of the Testing fields.

Test Session Results

Test Result Verbiage - Customize to change the verbiage for tests results from Correct/Incorrect to something else (I.e., “Mastered” and “Not Mastered”). This field has a 12-character limit. The custom verbiage will display everywhere where “Correct/Incorrect” previously displayed. 

Test Session Results - Lets you choose whether test session results display with or without scores.

  • Select With Scores to enable a pie chart display when a test session has ended. 

  • Select Without Scores to display a graphic without scores.

Note: Please click on the blue Save Changes button when you are finished adjusting any of the Test Session Results fields.
