Intro to Test Explorer (New Teacher Homepage)

Overview:

The Test Explorer is pre-loaded with a library of over 2,500 tests. The tests available in the library come in various formats, including Yes/No, Rubric, Single Score, and Self-Assessed types. Each format serves different assessment needs, allowing flexibility in how evaluations are conducted. The tests can be utilized as they are or modified/copied (with the exception of the Self-Assessed test) to fit your specific needs or to create your own assessments.

To access the Test Explorer, please click on the “Test Explorer” option located on the left-hand column of your home screen. After making your selection, you will be directed to the New Test Explorer screen. Within the new Test Explorer screen, you’ll find the enhanced Filter Panel, which enables you to refine the displayed tests using the following options:

  • Standards – Select State Standards (Common Core)
  • Grade Level – TK, PreK, Kindergarten, 1st
  • Content Area – Language Arts, Math, Spanish
  • Test Type – Yes/No, Single Score, Rubric
  • Administration (broken into self-assess and one-on-one)
  • Noted Authors - ESGI Noted Authors are educators who have used and promoted ESGI
  • Series – Set of tests selected together by age, Standards, and Pre-Screeners

Additionally, you can toggle the "Show Hidden Tests” box to view any tests that you may have previously hidden.

You can apply multiple filters at the same time by selecting various options in the Filter Panel. To deselect an item, simply click on it again; the blue highlighting will disappear. If you want to remove all applied filters at once, click the "Reset Filters" icon located in the top right corner of the Filter Panel. The Filters, Standard, Noted Authors, and Series buttons will open a panel on the right side of the screen when clicked. Given the large number of available filters, you can also clear each of these three filter categories separately by using the 'Clear' button. This button will appear when one or more filters are applied in a specific category.

Standards Filter:

Test Explorer allows you to filter ESGI system tests by certain state standards. You can get started with this by clicking on the “Filter By Standards” button located at the top of the Filter Panel on the left of the page. This will open the “Standards Filter Panel” on the right side of your screen:

The standard options available are the Common Core and 16 US States for Language Arts and Mathematics, Pre-K through 2nd Grade.

Once you’re in the Standards Filter Panel, your default type should be auto-populated with your State (shown in your account settings). If we do not have your State, the default will be set to Common Core. You can change the Standard Type/State that you view test results with by clicking the “Type” dropdown and selecting a State from the list that appears.

Only one standard type can be searched at a time. Changing the dropdown selection will reset any previous standard types in the panel.  After you’ve selected your desired standard type, choose the appropriate Content Area and Grade Level and then pick a domain from the list that appears.  After a domain is selected, you will see the list of all standards associated with it. You can use the search bar located at the top of the panel to search for standards based on their code or description.

Once you have found a standard that you wish to add, click on it to select it. You can select multiple standards, and each one will appear at the top of the panel once selected. You can deselect any standards you no longer wish to include by either clicking on the “X” icon next to their name at the top or clicking on it from the standard list. Additionally, you have the option to select/deselect all standards by clicking on the “Select All” icon below the search bar.

When you’ve selected all the Standards that you wish to add, click on the “Add Filter” button at the top right of the panel to add them. Once the filter is successfully added, Test Explorer will only display tests that align with the selected standards.

Noted Authors:

Our Noted Authors now appear in a scrollable panel view, which shows the author’s name, description, and picture. ESGI tests are also now featured as a Noted Author under the name "System”.

You can filter by multiple Noted Authors by selecting specific authors you want (as indicated with the blue highlighting around their tile(s)) and then clicking the "Add Filter” at the top of the panel.

The number of Authors that you’ve selected will be represented by a blue number to the left of the "Add Filter” button.

To deselect a previously selected Author, just click on their tile again to make the blue highlight disappear. You can also choose to select/ deselect all by clicking on the “Select All” icon.

Series Panel:

Similar to our Noted Authors, our "Series" option appears in a scrollable panel, which shows the series’ name and description. You can search for a specific series by typing its name in the search bar.

Filter by multiple series by clicking on and selecting the series (as indicated by the blue highlighting) that you would like to filter by and then clicking on the "Add Filter” button at the top of the panel.

The number of Series that you’ve selected will be represented by a blue number to the left of the “Add Filter” button.

To deselect a previously selected Series, click on its tile again to remove the blue highlighting. You can also choose to select/ deselect all by clicking on the “Select All” icon.

Adding Tests to Subject Tab and Action Bar:

New to the Test Explorer is the ability to add multiple tests at once.

  1. Locate the Test Card(s) that you wish to add, click on the empty checkbox(es) to select. You’ll know that you’ve successfully selected a Test Card if a checkmark appears in the checkbox and the Test Card becomes highlighted in blue.
  2. Once at least one Test Card is selected, a light blue bar known as the "Action Bar” will display at the bottom of the screen. The Action Bar shows the total count of selected tests, allows you to hide those tests, enables you to mark them as favorites, and lets you add them to your subject tabs.
  3. Click on "Add Selected” on the right corner to proceed.
  4. A window will appear on the right that will display your selected tests and active Subject Tabs (see Image 3). You have the option to create a new subject tab from this panel and deselect one of the tests by clicking the X icon next to the name of the test you no longer wish to add. To continue adding your selected test(s), select the Subject Tab where you wish to add the test(s) to, and then click on the Add button at the top-right of the panel.
