Edit and Modify Tests in ESGI

To learn how to edit and modify tests in the Classic Version of ESGI, click here.

Overview:

Editing a test in ESGI is a simple and user-friendly process. You have the flexibility to change the test title, modify question content, and adjust answer choices to suit your needs. This feature allows you to tailor assessments to better meet your teaching objectives. However, please be cautious when editing a test that has already been shared or administered to a student, as these changes may impact the data. We recommend reviewing the article Effects of Editing a Test before making any modifications to ensure you understand the potential implications.

Please Note: You must be the test author to edit. If you are not the author, you can make a copy of the test and edit it to meet your needs.

Important Notes

  • To edit or modify an existing test, you must be the test author.
  • When editing a test that has been shared and/or already given to a student, the data could be altered:
  • If the number of questions is changed, the percentage of questions each student has corrected will be adjusted.
  • If you edit the content of a question, the data will no longer reflect the student's answers.
  • If you edit a question and only change a picture (e.g. The question asks, "what color is this?" and you change the picture from a frog to a leaf), the data remains intact.

Editing a Single Score Test:

The process for editing a Single Score Test is quite similar to that of a Yes/No test listed above, however, the key distinction lies in the Total Possible option located in the center of the test preview window. Here, you have the flexibility to adjust this number, either increasing or decreasing it as needed (see Image 2).

Editing a Rubric Test:

When editing a Rubric Test, select the Preview Test Icon at the end of the test card. The test card window is similar to the other test cards (yes/no, single score). You can change the test name, description, card color, grade level, and add it to your Subject Tabs. To edit more information on the Rubric test, select Edit Test at the top of the test card window (see Image 3).

  • Level Type: This is added when the test is first created. When you select one of the Rubric test options (reading, math, writing), it will automatically add the level type.
  • Levels: If the test has not been given to any students, you can add levels to your rubric test. If the test has not been given to a student, you will have the option to add levels. You cannot change the order of the levels from highest to lowest, but you can change the wording under each level.
  • Criteria: You can edit the criteria information and change the order by dragging and dropping using the markers on the side.
  • Description: The description can be modified or left as is
  • Details: Details are not displayed on the official rubric, only on the test screen if accessed.
